I just did the logo concept for rawpinions.com, on Flash (ok, it took me just a bloody minute, so McFreakn wo0t).  I LOVE it.  It’s simple, it’s witty (well, at least I think so) and it’s not only got an “R” in it that stands for rawpinions, but it’s a symbol for what rawpinions is about (it should sort of look like the facial expression of someone who’s sort of frustrated/bothered; someone who’s got a nasty opinion, heehee…).

It’s still Friday (for another 45 minutes) so technically, I’m not late.

LOL…it’s a bit funny esp. coz I love it and I didn’t know it would only take me a minute to do.

I’ll polish it up a bit and then apply it to the site.

I must admit, I’ve been a little down this past few days.  I’ve been down because I need a new logo for this thing I wanted to start (I already mentioned it on an earlier post) and I can either pay for it or make one myself.  I want to pay for it but that’s just running away from a problem that I should be able to handle.

Creating a logo is tougher than many people think.  You either have a knack for it or you don’t.  The logo I need will be on my business cards (for that thing I mentioned, not for Rawpinions LOL :D) and if it’s made by someone else, it will pretty much contradict who I am.  So instead of spending $50-$100 getting someone else to make one for me, I’ve got to do it on my own.

I don’t really have much planned this week so I’ve decided to concentrate on logo creation…so it’s Wednesday and I’m giving myself until Friday to come up with Rawpinions.com’s official logo.  I don’t want it to be extravagant, I want it to be “simple and witty” (like logos should be).  I haven’t really decided on whether it should be a logo symbol or a logo text…it probably should be both though.

I will post my logo concepts here, so stay tuned.  LOL.

Over the past year, I haven’t really bothered myself with photo restoration and editing.  I’ve been more involved with other things.  So I really need to start practising because it is a beautiful skill.  The challenge is trying to beautify an already-beatiful picture.  I don’t really have that many photographs (I suck at photography) but here are a few photographs I’ve used for this exercise.

I just found yet another one of my pet-peeves: someone calling me “sis” or “sister”. After this post, I’m going to try to Google-search people who might be feeling the same way, if any…because it is a weird pet peeve.

It bothers me when either my male or female friends call me that. My own biological sisters don’t even call me that, so why should other people?

The reason one of my close female friends call me “sis” is because, according to her I’m the sister she never had. So instead of calling me ‘buddy’, ‘pal’ or anything that sounds like she’s talking to her dog, she calls me “sis”. I totally understand her reasons, but somehow it still bothers me big time. I can’t really tell her not to call me that, because she’s going to sulk and get all sensitive about it.

Even more horrible is when guys call me that. It’s just a word that has never been in my non-existent culture. So the word only has one meaning to me and that’s “female sibling”, of which I have two.

The ultimate worst however, is when a guy - a steaming hot guy, calls me “sister”. It’s as immoral as incest-ism.

Composed this tutorial quite a while back for another site (back in the days when I was still into the JPG image format). Here’s a very simple way of creating a rose using Adobe Flash (or Macromedia Flash).

1 - Using the fill colour, choose the colour you want your rose to be. I’ll pick the popular red.

2 - Select the Polystar tool.

3 - Choose an appropriate outline.

4 - Click and drag the tool on your canvas, until you’re satisfied with the largest diameter of the rose you’re going to make.

5 - Select the whole shape and edit the properties of your transform window. I’ll set the following to: width 85%, height 85%, rotate 20 degrees. But it’s up to you how you want yours done.

6 - The next bit is really easy, all you have to do is keep clicking on the ‘copy and apply transform’ button until you feel you’re rose has enough ‘petals’.

7 - And there you have it, a quick rose!

I don’t know…I like really simple & straightforward stuff.

I just created (or modified, rather) my first-ever custom image for Web2Messenger:

I’m not going to use it though, I was just trying it out because about 2 years ago when I first had my Web2Messenger account I didn’t know how to use Photoshop! So everyone had their really cool-looking custom image modified from WLM and I had to either use the default or someone else’s.

I also just found out today that the Messenger Status Image Generator is back online, for the very few people who actually have a Web2Messenger account:

They’ve actually been in beta for quite some time now…that’s why they’ve paused registrations. Here’s what the real-time status image is like (set to default image):

So if I’m online and have something on my personal message, playing music or whatever, anyone should be able to see it.

Quite fun…but the huge downside is this: if I blocked anyone on my contact list and they know where one of my status images can be found, they’ll be able to find out that they’ve been blocked.
